I’ve always wanted a small-scale grocery store. However, the sheer volume of food available that I would have to make has always daunted me. Recently I decided to use my time-honored method of using a part to suggest the whole, but with the principle applied to a grocery store. I chose a produce section to make because variety of shapes and colors would be aesthetically pleasing. Plus fruit is much easier to make than endless permutations of, say, cereal boxes. Results below. Produce display bins are from AliExpress. Baskets and clay barrels are from Michaels in the miniature section. Fruit is a combination of stuff that I sculpted [from Aves Apoxie Sculpt and Instamorph heatmold plastic] and customized erasers. Still needs price tags and a big splashy graphic of fruit… Maybe a plastic bag dispenser and a scale too.<\/p>\n

Red and green apples are from Instamorph with color pellets added. Yellowish apples are made from Aves Apoxie Sculpt, then painted. I was going to make stems, but then I decided that no one would be looking that closely, so I decided not to.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Mangoes [those yellow things] are painted Aves Apoxie Sculpt. Two varieties of grapes are knockoff Iwako erasers from AliExpress. Some of them I gave a dry brushing of blue acrylic, some reddish.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Peaches are painted Aves Apoxie Sculpt. Bananas are knockoff Iwako erasers accentuated with colored pencil. Plums are Instamorph plastic.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
