So today I called Dental Dental of Illinois' customer service hotline to try to find out which type of Delta Dental I had. One of the first questions that the rep asked me, even before my name or ID number, was, "Who's the holder of the policy, your husband?"<\/b><\/p>\n
Let's break that down…<\/p>\n
The rep knew nothing about me, not even my name or my ID number, no personal information, except for that I sounded stereotypically feminine. He therefore automatically assumed that:<\/p>\n
a) I was a woman.<\/p>\n
b) I was heterosexual.<\/p>\n
c) I was married.<\/p>\n
d) I did not have insurance under my own name.<\/p>\n
I can understand assumption a), but were any of the others warranted? NO! What stupidity!<\/p>\n
