Xandy’s cheap piece of crap<\/strike> merry-go-round music box arrived in the mail today. I got exactly what I paid for, which was a toy made out of wood, glue, [probably lead-based] paint and a music box that sounded like someone torturing a piano sounding board with a cocktail fork.<\/p>\n

This is what it looked like before I got my hands on it. Just be thankful that you can’t hear its tune, which was supposedly Castle in the Sky.<\/p>\n

The wood and glue construction yielded easily to the point of my craft knife. I pried out the wooden base to expose the music box. From there I removed two screws and took out the plonkity, which is the technical term, of course, for the comb-like piece of metal that creates music when it strikes the bumps on the music drum. The merry-go-round now rotates without that annoying sound.<\/p>\n

I easily yanked out the horses’ dowels from their sockets, so I now have a silenced merry-go-round denuded of animals. It awaits repainting and restocking with skeletal ride-ons.<\/p>\n

Xandy wonders what to do with four little horses. Maybe it’s time for a small-scale apocalypse?<\/p>\n
