Because of the scene in <em>Mirrormask <\/em>[linked in song title] in which those clockwork gynoids dollify Helena to the tune. Get away from me with your creepy Objectification Dust [TM], robots!<\/li>\n<li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=n5h0qHwNrHk\">Fake Plastic Trees<\/a><\/em> by Radiohead. Metaphorical dolls. Close enough.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=E_8IXx4tsus\"><em>China Girl<\/em><\/a> by David Bowie. Double entendre dolls with more Objectification Dust and bonus racism!<\/li>\n<li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=-d0GARTk_Nk\">Rent<\/a><\/em> by the Pet Shop Boys. Willfully trying to confuse money and possession with love and acceptance and, on occasion, succeeding in this self-delusion.<\/li>\n<li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=CEei36gynqA&amp;list=PL772155B5D9FCE6EC&amp;index=13\">Columbine<\/a><\/em> by David Bowie. The first 1:40 of this mournful video, which is apparently part of a pantomime,\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1529317\/\">Pierrot in Turquoise,<\/a><\/em> that David Bowie created and starred in around 1967. Mimes have always reminded me of dolls.<\/li>\n<li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=hFgrXhcERQ8\">Toy Soldier<\/a><\/em> by David Bowie. Another song from the same era as <em>Columbine. <\/em>It&#8217;s like a nursery rhyme mashed up with Velvet Underground&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=AwzaifhSw2c\"><em>Venus in Furs,<\/em><\/a> from which he lifted most of the chorus. The result is as funny, disturbing, and downright weird as you would expect.<em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4Gon8_V0wb8\">Under My Thumb<\/a><\/em> by the Rolling Stones. We&#8217;re not dealing with Objectification Dust here, folks.
