<\/p>\nAbout four years ago, I bought a 1:6 scale kid doll from local figural sculptor Georgia Landau, along with some mohair [or maybe wool] wig fibers. She has a porcelain head\/neck, lower arms\/hands, and lower legs\/feet, all attached to a cloth body with wire armature. Though she has limited poseability, she is extremely adorable, with a gawky, earnest, curious personality. However, she has been sitting on my shelf, garishly dressed and bald, thus unfinished, for most of her life.<\/p>\n

Last week I finally finished customizing her. I made a shirt for her out of knit socks for the front and recycled T-shirt for all other parts. I glossed her eyes and teeth. Then I made her a wig. I made the cap with a single layer of plastic wrap, which I then covered with several layers of toilet paper impregnated with Mod Podge. Then I combed all the knots out of a premade weft of blond curls. After that I painted the cap to roughly match her head, then hot glued the wefts to the cap. I started off with a spiral at the center of the nape, around the edge of the cap, then progressively upward toward the crown. At the top I hot glued two doubled sections of weft stitched end to stitched end to simulate a part. Then I glued that on top of the head and combed the shit out of it. Results below.<\/p>\n
