“My will is as strong as yours”: Jarethian reflections throughout the movie

September 17, 2000: I originally wrote this essay back in July 19, 1997, inspired by Luna, keeper of Through Dangers Untold. In the ballroom scene, there are two women holding up mirrors to each side of Jareth’s face. She asked me what I thought this meant.

Then I started thinking about mirrors and reflections in Labyrinth in general. They’re a subtle but fascinating theme. I wrote a draft of this essay, but it was very dense and hard to follow, so I recently edited it for your reading pleasure. (more…)
