I don’t know how old I was when I finally actually listened to the words of that song and realized the video and radio starts to which they refer predated MTV’s notion of (promotional) videos by several decades. I often wonder how many people have never listened to the lyrics and believe it’s really all about MTV, even though believing that should be instantly quashed by the fact that there are still songs on the radio (with more songs on the radio than on MTV these days, natch)
