Chatting with me about modding a 1:6 scale cat’s face:

Her: the nozzle is a little weird so I thought it could work
what’s the word I want
not nozzle
snout?
noseface?
facenose?
shapespace?

Me: Muzzle!

Her: THANK YOU!
so mouth+nozzle
okay

Me: Muzzle…nozzle…same thing.

Her: jijijiji
also nuzzle exists
which is what a miaou does with their nozzle

Temperature scales with reference to cats, Californians, Floridians, Bostonians, and Minnesotans

This temperature scale amuses me. I figure that the “Bostonians” column applies equally well to all Vermonters. Being dissatisfied with the weather is practically a regional sport in New England. The “Cats” column [“Yell at you until you turn the heat up”] also entertains me.

Cat baffled by cat door

Cat baffled by cat door published on No Comments on Cat baffled by cat door

This picture of a cat failing to use the cat door entertains me. It also reminds me that Babycat has, on several occasions, considered herself trapped behind the [freely movable] shower curtain between living room and kitchen [used to keep heat in the most-used end of the apartment] and thus tragically, alarmingly separated from her mom. Distress calls have resulted, along with pathetic pawing against the curtain.

Cat turning into lines on window sits

Cat turning into lines on window sits published on No Comments on Cat turning into lines on window sits

Babycat enjoys absorbing sunshine on the cat platform in front of the dolls & trains room window, which we call “the window sits.” She, of course, also enjoys napping there. I love how, when cats go to sleep, I can just see the lines for their eyes and mouths, which is why we call sleeping cats “turning into lines.” Here is Babycat turning into lines on the window sits this afternoon.

This is how Babycat sleeps in the winter.

This is how Babycat sleeps in the winter. published on No Comments on This is how Babycat sleeps in the winter.

That brown thing is our heater. She often stares in between the vents at the flame bar, which we call “gazing into Mr. Heater’s eyes.” She also may paw at the heater to try to reach the flame bar and, if her claws are overgrown, get stuck! When she’s tired out after a hard day of napping, she florbs like this and uses Mr. Heater as a pillow. She’s giving me the side eye because I have interrupted their passionate embrace with my nosy camera. Continue reading This is how Babycat sleeps in the winter.

Hilarious cat-headed owl model

This Meowl figure by Sixus1 cracks me up. Like ryverthorn’s Snuffles, this is a fantasy creature that I have no use or plans for, but which will probably make my way into my runtime because it’s so damn cute.

Hmmm, something seems to be out of scale here.

Obviously the window is too small. :p

Yogurt

Yogurt published on No Comments on Yogurt

I just ate a yogurt that supposedly expired at the beginning of May. Not dead yet!

Babycat cracks me up. Whenever she sees us opening up the little Greek yogurt containers, she goes O_O and parks at our feet, licking her little chops. If we give her the peach or strawberry yogurt, she sticks her little face in the container and licks out all the leavings. She refuses to do the same with the blueberry, though.

1:6 scale BJC [ball-jointed cat]

1:6 scale BJC [ball-jointed cat] published on 1 Comment on 1:6 scale BJC [ball-jointed cat]

Here kitty kitty! These are amazing! I would love to get one just to see if it can do the same positions that Babycat does: loaf cat, extend-o-feets, retract-o-feets, circle and florb.

EDIT: The artist also has an entry showing her 3-D digital models of the cats, as well as other headsculpts.

I was just thinking that it would be pretty funny to have a cat in one of my stories that talks, but only in phrases that are obviously translatable from the sounds cats make. I.e., the cat would never say, "I think it looks like rain" or "What’s the meaning of life?" Instead, you’d get a lot of "Is that food for me?", "Can I have some?", "I love you Mom!", "I’m bored," "I’m hungry," "Fuck off — I’m napping," "No, I don’t wanna move," "It hurts," "I’m scared," "Pet me," "Do not pet me," etc. ^_^

Whose cat is that?

Whose cat is that? published on No Comments on Whose cat is that?

This perky little cat started hanging around our porch yesterday, rubbing all over the slats in the railing and rolling over so I could pet its belly. Its presence irritates both my landlord and her two indoor cats to no end; Leo and Zing, my landlord's cats, glare at the outdoor cat, while the outdoor cat lazes around on the landing. After hanging around for over 24 hours, it jumped up and bounded away shortly after I snapped this picture. We have no idea who owns it, but it looks well-fed, and it's known in the neighborhood as a friendly feline of unknown origin.

P.S. As a completely irrelevant aside, I just had one of these [Wicked Whoopies orange creamsicle whoopie pie!!!], and it was delicious. Fortunately I bought it from the local Shaw's without needing to order a dozen online. :d

LHF Meanwhile 13: “Materyllis’ Pesky Pussy” [Rement cat]

In which Materyllis’ cat misbehaves.

Comments: Rement makes a set of figures called My Cats. Materyllis’ cat comes from the set called the Nomuras’ Kitchen Cat, which contains the sleeping cat, the soup pot as shown, a playful kitten [not shown] and its plastic bag that it is swatting at [also not shown]. I initially bought the set for the sleeping cat, which I thought was cute, but for which I had no use.

Then I thought that Materyllis, as a reclusive, shapeshifting, vampire healer and conjure woman, would be just the sort of person to have cats. Much to her annoyance, however, her cat is about as inert as she is hard-working.

I got two sets from the Rement My Cats series: The Suzukis’ Blogger Cat and The Nomuras’ Kitchen Cat. The sitting cat, the computer and the mouse are from the Blogger Cat set. The kitten is from the Kitchen Cat set. The cartoon is from my imagination. If anyone wants the cats, let me know. I just want the computer and the mouse [and the cat in a pot, not shown]. 😀
