I ripped out enough of Xandy’s original purple bob so that the cropped remains would not show from under her lofty new wig. Since I had such fun designing my digital pompadour, Zabby, I decided to give Xandy an actual manifestation of the same style, with a few differences.
Here’s the latest and pretty much final rendition of Zabby for reference:
In Xandy’s version, the main pompadour will be purple faux fur and the braids purple/pink yarn. Spiders will replace the flowers. I traced Xandy’s profile, then sketched how high I would like her pompadour to go in proportion. Not sure about the skull on top of the bun. Good thing I have a digital model of the hair to consult, as I’m having trouble visualizing the pompadour shape and thus the pattern I need to reverse engineer from it. My inability to mentally see the shape of Xandy’s ‘do should be embarrassingly obvious from the hot dog shape of her proposed hairstyle in my sketch below.
Here’s a picture of the purple fur and the yarn for braids. I also have some black boucle that might make good accents, say, tied around the buns.
I saw a post on Andrea’s Tumblr about Halloween printed cottons hitting Joann’s Fabric. I need to hie myself there soon and obtain some of that black cotton with the jumpy skeletons. It would be perfect for a layer in Xandy’s skirt. Isabel too would adore it. Hell, even I myself think it’s pretty cute.
