I get the idea that she has cultivated the crazy appearance, at least in part, because she got so tired of hearing people tell her how amazingly beautiful she is, and wanted something to distract them (and because she does like dressing crazy, but also got tired of hearing people tell her she should dress like something out of a magazine, so she aimed her look toward extreme…)
