Recent creative projects #1: repurposing Halloween hair clips

I went to the hospital gift shop today and examined their Halloween display for seasonal goods that I could use for my dolls.

hats01 — I found three hair clips for repurposing. The labels on each say “Spellbound Whimsy Witch Hair Clips — Hocus Pocus!” Hats are made of stiff felt, about 3″ from brim to peak and 3″ in diameter at the base. Decorations and hair clips are hot glued on. The peaks have polyfill in them to keep them erect.

hats02 — I used alcohol to loosen the hot glue that attached each hair clip to the bottom of each hat. I then cut a rough hole in the base of each hat and removed about half of the stuffing. Submit, who, at 20cm, is a 1:6 scale kid, thinks her oversize wizard hat is awesome!

hats03 — The effect on 1:6 scale adults, like Timonium [~30cm], looks more in scale, but still hilarious.
