I visited LyraJean yesterday, and we hit two independent thrift stores run by the nonprofit Listen in the White River Junction / West Lebanon area. She keeps telling me about all the great doll stuff that she finds in the Listen stores, so I had hopes of scoring big.
First I picked up four 9″ dolls with soft wired bodies and porcelain heads and lower limbs, all from the Months to Remember series by Russ. They were $1.75 apiece. They all came with removable outfits made of dresses, bloomers, and bonnets, all mediocrely sewn. Several dorklets commandeered the better outfits. The pink one [August] was too sloppily sewn to keep.
L to R: Little Day, Ethancitx, Silencitx, Little Night, and Little Allison. Little Day is wearing the outfit from the March Months to Remember doll, Ethancitx from July, and Little Night from April.I rescued a Mattel 1998 Generation Girl Mari from a bin with a bunch of other naked Barbies with tangled hair. After several hours, I brushed out all the snarls from her hair and pulled out most of the frizzies. I put her hair in two ponytails, plopped her on a Spin Master Liv body, and redressed her. Evidently Mattel doesn’t use this headsculpt [also named Mari] a lot, so she, now called Marie, was a nifty find for 75c! I like her facial screening.
