Ever since seeing the denim-wearing Barbie Basic with the Louboutin sculpt at doll club in March [she's the brown-haired one], I've wanted one for my own, but have had no excuse to get one because I'm not really actively in 1:6 scale any more. Continue reading Yearrrrrrgh, now I want DOLLS!

Sarah looking out the window
Sarah gazes contemplatively out the window with her doll Precious Little. Sarah is wearing a wig that I got from Barb at doll club yesterday for just $3.00. I think Sarah looks better in dark-colored hair than in the wig she came with, a bright red one. I used the last bit of pre-sunlight light for these pictures and burned/dodged Sarah’s eyes in the one with Precious Little so you can see their green.Continue reading Sarah looking out the window

Doll club, 4/10/10
Just a few people [six] came to doll club today, so the meeting lasted shorter than usual. I brought Tamsin, a doll customized by Andrea and wearing a combo of dress, apron and stockings made by Andrea, sitting in a Vitra mini chair from a package from Andrea. Tamsin’s multicolored hair and detailed paint job were much exclaimed over.Continue reading Doll club, 4/10/10

Photos from doll club, 02/06/10
Just a few photos from doll club. I took pictures of my new Rement pets, a hedgehog and a turtle, in the hands of Anneka and Will respectively, and the animals are in perfect scale for pets. I also snapped a picture of one of Maria’s Kish Rileys, which would make a great younger character for LHF if it were more jointed and possessed of less exaggerated lip paint. Helen Kish’s distinctive sculpting style can be seen in the Rileys as well as in my American Girl Girls of Many Lands dolls, Qingting and Maggie.Continue reading Photos from doll club, 02/06/10

New toys for kidsies
I went to doll club today and got American Kitchen #4 Baby Goods and #9 Merry Christmas. Geordie was particularly interested in the Merry Christmas bear, since pink is her favorite color. Today’s topic sentence: Rements are awesome.
Rement’s a brand name for small, plastic, realistically colored, finely molded, hand-painted models of food, household goods, animals and other related stuff, made by a Japanese company called Rement. The stuff is ~1:6, usually a bit smaller, so it works well with fashion dolls and 12" action figs, a.k.a. the cast of LHF. It is made in themed sets, like "Princess Tea Party," "What’s For Dinner?,""Kawaii Kitchen," etc. Rement is the company name, and the stuff goes by Puchi Petites in the US, but most people I know call the models Rements. Because of their high levels of both quality and cuteness, Rements cause masturbation mass evacuation of wallets non-stop high-pitched squealing to those who are interested in these things.Continue reading Today’s topic sentence: Rements are awesome.
Epona, 1:6 satyr girl custom, hangs out among greenery.
Back in January, I mentioned that I was getting a custom 1:6 fig from Twigling. Horsegirl eventually arrived, but I didn’t get around to taking pictures of her until today when I brought her to doll club. Everyone admired her sculpting and her digitigrade legs. As she traveled to and from Burlington in my tote bag, some of her paint chipped, so I’ll have to bundle her more carefully if she goes out again. See her hanging out among the potted plants below. I named her Epona, the Roman goddess of horses!
Back after a five-month absence!
I finally went to doll club today with Will and Sardonix. Will’s clothes reached a new sartorial nadir of horrible fabulousness; I never knew I could create such staggering amounts of fashion-related weirdness with a limited number of items. He also got a new wig from Volks SD Kun, a brownish, ex-blond long straight cut. For once in her life, Sardonix kept quiet and didn’t cause any trouble, probably because she was too busy stabbing things with her Vengeance Unicorn.
Sardonix says, “Don’t interrupt me while I’m stabbing a mime in the back!”
Volks Yo-SD Ann looking nauseatingly cute in a little birdy outfit. I forget who her owner is.
Will showing off his new wig and borrowed bear hat. Does it complement his leopard print?
Another classy pose in front of the paper towel dispenser. Hat from Tensiya [I think] + leopard print from Soom + lace thingy from DollMore + custom vinyl skirt by DOA artist + black-and-white stripey socks [not shown] = fashion disaster.
Will and the kid
At the Burlington Doll Club meet today, I enjoyed seeing members that I hadn’t greeted in a while. I showed off my new Sabik, and Rosa Palomino’s YoSD Ann was interested in his hat.
Jareth vs. Haund default pictures
I got a chance at the Burlington Doll Club meet to compare Jareth to a default Haund [with open eyes]. He belongs to either catzy02 or SpiffyMuffins on DOA [not sure — they live in the same apartment along with DrNero and they have 13 dolls among them].
As you can see, the default has a shorter, fuller face, with a larger mouth, wider eyes and a much more protuberant nose. When I compare default Haunds to Jareth, I am startled by the difference between my doll as he was originally and as he is now. Armeleia really changed him a lot! She added some length to his chin and a lot to his cheekbones. She also drastically reduced his nose. Overall, when I see a regular Haund, I think he looks young, lost and sad. When I look at Jareth, I see someone sharp, tired, older and thoughtful. Pictures below.
Doll meet + good light = Frank doing glam shots.
After an absence of several months [too long!], I finally returned to the Burlington Doll Club meeting, bearing Jareth, Frank and new, improved Jennifer. People greeted my dolls with happy exclamations. [Me they were less excited about. :p] I showed off Frank’s outfit, which everyone marveled at and envied. Frank, as usual, showed off himself. Here are some shots of him just wearing a Dollmore leather jacket, Haund size. He’s naked below the waist, but you don’t see that. He really likes leather…I should get him a leather jacket.
Frank molests lawn ornaments…
Yesterday Boston-area doll dorks and I converged on a New England Winter Wonderland convention for a small meet-up. After hanging around in the dealer’s room and droooooooooooooling for a few hours, we repaired to our own meeting area… Before we did that, though, some of us ventured to Newbury Street in search of food. On the way back from Greek cuisine, Frank perpetrated lewd acts on the contents of a lawn ornament display. :p
Frank debuts at the doll club meeting at Ivy’s house!
Yesterday the Burlington Doll Club held its summer meeting at Ivy’s house. Amidst pizza, chips and salsa, we heated up her living room with insane giggles and clothing swaps, an excavation of the “free box” and, of course, general adulation of everyone’s dolls…particularly Frank. Frank made his first major public appearance in his final form yesterday. As popular as he was in Ptown, Frank vamped for everyone’s cameras, enjoying the feeling of many hands across his body. See beautiful dolls and silly comments below.

Jennifer meets other small BJDs in Burlington.
The usual band of geeks suspects took over the usual conference room at the Burlington Public Library this afternoon to swap doll parts, stories and photos. Jennifer started off grumpy because she was wearing the aforementioned frilly dress with cherries, but Ivy had a box o’ free shit from where she found a much more pleasing outfit, modeled below. Other loot I nabbed: a fuzzy pink sweater, a knitted shawl and a troll with pink hair to confiscate for Jennifer…not to mention the 1:3 bottle of Beck beer, this last from Barb!
Jennifer hung out with Jamie’s OrientDoll Tae, Quaid, who is 40 cm to her 27. He’s very realistically proportioned, and I can’t wait to see his female counterpart! She also posed with Breck’s Souldoll Kimmy, Puck, who is shorter and slenderer than she is. I like the 1:6 Souldoll BJD bodies better than Soom’s; Souldoll’s features are meatier and more realistic.
An informal survey on the way back to the T revealed that I’m not the only one who feels completely wiped out after meets. Steph, Jamie, Sam and Meg said that they all wanted to go to sleep afterward, despite the fact that we always part ways before dinner. Steph put it best when she said, “It’s like you’ve been mainlining fun for 4 hours. Then you go home and can’t stand any more fun!” Continue reading Jennifer meets other small BJDs in Burlington.
Boston Dollpa #1
Mara [rdwayneright] hosted a BJD meet at her swank Brockton pad this afternoon. We took over the meeting room at her condo with our dolls [about 11 owners, 2 or 3 dolls a piece and a few SOs = a lot of fun] and our potluck luncheon. Then we sat around for five hours to make pornographic jokes while swapping doll clothes and wigs and posing them in [compromising] situations. After that, we were all exhausted because playing with dolls sucks up your energy, but in that good way. :p Continue reading Boston Dollpa #1
Wigs for Jennifer / Elfdoll infestation
At today’s Burlington doll club, I brought a sampling of my 1:6 smorgasbord and held a picnic for Jennifer and Rosa’s Elfdolls. [Of course, none of the cute picnic ended up in my final selection of photos, since I’m very picky about which ones I post.] The Elfdoll with the larger eyes is Dodo. The one with the red hair is Adel. I don’t know what Rosa named them, but I got some size comparison shots of them with Jennifer and with Jareth. I also tried on at least 10 wigs on Jennifer. Which ones do you think flatter her? Continue reading Wigs for Jennifer / Elfdoll infestation
No dolls were harmed in the making of this photograph.
At yesterday's Burlington doll meet, Jareth proudly showed off his snazzy cape. Jamie [DrNero] saw how voluminous it was and wondered how many other dolls you could hide under here. This silly photo was the result. No dolls were corrupted in the shooting of this photo, although everyone seemed a bit traumatized afterward by the…wrongness of it. We've got two Dollmore 40cms under there ["His hand is bigger than my head" = Ujee, "I'm closing my eyes" = unknown], a Volks Toppi ["Mister…"] and a CP unknown ["I'm calling"]. :pContinue reading No dolls were harmed in the making of this photograph.
Frank popped my cherry.
Last night I met up with some Boston metro BJD fans {Steph, Mara, Lauren [CurlyKitty on DOA], Kira [Sniffles], Jamie [DrNero]} at New Ginza, a Japanese restaurant in Watertown. A small army of dolls came along too, of course, fascinating the wait staff [“Is that a hobby? Do you make that?”]. We filled the small restaurant with sarcasm, silly jokes and squeals of delight — in short, what you’d usually expect from a doll meet. Frank, my BJD emissary this time [borrowing Jareth’s body], contributed his own share of humor, at the expense of my yummy fried ice cream. See below. Continue reading Frank popped my cherry.
Jareth confronts the cuteness at the Burlington doll club meeting.
Fun at yesterday’s Burlington doll club meeting, in which my little Goblin King proves his complete lack of social graces and Marcus [Doll More Ujee, owned by Jamie, aka DrNero on DOA] proves his utter cuteness and artistic talents. Check it out below the cut. Continue reading Jareth confronts the cuteness at the Burlington doll club meeting.
Geekity geekity: at the Burlington doll club meeting
Well, I took Lilith to the Burlington doll club meeting yesterday, where she felt out of place among 1:4 fashion dolls and a slew of BJDs. However, I felt right at home, admiring and joking about everyone’s dolls and ogling the first Haund I’ve ever seen. You can see him below [his name is Grimm], owned by Steph on DOA. Lishe, who is owned by Ivy [Ivy4Mdvanii on DOA], parked herself in his lap, incidentally showing off where Sardonix’ boots went to. [Lishe’s T-shirt, hilariously enough, says I’M NOT A F***ING BARBIE!] The chair is from Doll Market, where I am going to get me some cheap doll furniture one of these days.
See MW geek out below the cut. Continue reading Geekity geekity: at the Burlington doll club meeting
Taking pictures of 1:6 dolls again
On my way to a doll club meeting at the Burlington [Massachusetts, not Vermont, unfortunately] doll club meeting yesterday, I took along 1:6er Lilith. While I waited in the rainy train station at Alewife for the 350 bus, she enjoyed lounging around and showing off her bust. More below the cut.
